                                                  ASSESSMENT

      Placement tests are administered by the Assessment/Testing Center, located in the Sierra Vista Building, Room 365. Students are
      encouraged to take their placement tests early in order to avoid class registration delays. Testing schedules and sample tests are
      available in the Assessment Center and online at www.glendale.edu/assessment. All challenge tests may be taken anytime listed
      on the testing schedule. ESL, NC/ESL, make-up exams, and ATB are by appointment only in person. Students must bring a photo
      I.D. in order to take any test (Driver’s License, passport, high school I.D., etc.). Please note: cell phones, iPods, food, beverages,
      children, friends or relatives are not allowed in the testing room. Any questions should be directed to the Assessment Center at
      (818) 240-1000, ext. 5329.

          ENGLISH AND MATH PLACEMENT
          Placement tests are no longer required for English and Math. Students need to complete a
          Guided Placement Survey at the Assessment Center with a copy of their transcript if available.


          PAPER  -PENCIL EXAMS
          CHEMISTRY PLACEMENT TEST
          1.  This test is for students who want to enroll in Chemistry 101.
          2.  Students must have been placed in Math 101 or higher before they can take the chemistry tests.
          3.  Students who have successfully completed Chemistry 110, do not need to take the chemistry test to enroll into
            Chemistry 101.
          •  Students may use a basic calculator (no scientific or memory calculator) for this test.
          •  45 minutes are allowed for this exam.


          THE FOLLOWING TESTS ARE BY APPOINTMENT ONLY:
          ESL (ENGLISH AS A SECOND LANGUAGE)
          1.  This test is for students whose primary language is not English, and who may not have achieved proficiency in the
            use of the English language.
          2.  This test will measure English skills and is used for placement into any ESL course.
          •  Test includes: reading comprehension/grammar, listening/speaking skills and a writing sample.
          •  Students need to come to the Assessment Center to make their appointment, and obtain an “Appointment Sheet”
            for this exam. This test is not offered on a “walk-in” basis.
          •  All three sections of this test are timed. Please allow at least 2½ hours for this test.

          ATB/CELSA
          1.  Need to contact Financial Aid to obtain ATB Referral Form.
          2.  Make an appointment at Assessment Center, SF112.
          3.  Bring Photo I.D. and ATB Referral Form on the day of the test.

          ONLINE TESTING
          THERE WILL BE A CHARGE FOR THE FOLLOWING TESTS:
          Call for fee information and availability dates.
          CLEP (College Level Examination Program)
          MOS (Microsoft Office Specialist)
          Proctoring Services for universities, distance learning students and online exams.
