If a student makes an authorized
request for accommodation, please honor it. Don’t tell the student
that you
don’t believe in accommodations or the student doesn’t need them.
If you have concerns, contact DSPS.
Respect the student’s right to
confidentiality. Do not discuss the student’s needs with the class
or in front
of the class.
Encourage faculty-student contact.
Create a classroom environment that
respects and values diversity.
Avoid segregating or stigmatizing any
student.
Encourage different ways for students
to interact with each other and with you. These methods may include
in-class questions and discussion, group work, and
internet-based
communications.
Provide frequent feedback on student
progress (or lack thereof.)
