Basic Classroom Accommodations

 

Here are some ideas that faculty at other universities and community colleges have found useful. 

Many of these accommodations can be implemented by working with the Center for Students with Disabilities.  Contact us!

 

  • Notetakers and/or use of a laptop.

  • Early notification of projects, exams and assignments to reduce stress.

  • Alternate testing arrangements in a quiet room.

  • Extended time on tests.

  • Assignments available in electronic format.

  • Use of assistive computer software such as speech recognition.

  • Feedback or assistance to plan workflow.

  • Web page or email distribution of course materials and lecture notes.
