Confidentiality
The
student has the right
to confidentiality. Do not discuss the student's needs with the
class or in front of others.
It is always the
students’ responsibility to self-disclose, provide documentation of
disability and request accommodations. However, many students
choose not to let anyone know about their disability, trying to make
it on their own till after the first bad test experience.
The Center for
Students with Disabilities recommends that students with any
disabilities register with the CSD before they start classes or at
the beginning of classes.
The Center for
Students with Disabilities verifies disability, determines how the
disability affects the individual student for the particular class,
and establishes
reasonable and
appropriate
accommodations.
To encourage
students to advocate for accommodations, Glendale Community College
requires that you put the following statement on your syllabus.
“All students with
disabilities requiring accommodations are responsible for making
arrangements with the Center for Students with disabilities in
a timely manner.”
