Standards of Student Conduct

Faculty members may have concerns about students with psychological disabilities.  What are some strategies for better inclusion of the student?

They may also have questions about safety and behaviors.   A faculty member may ask, “What if there is an outburst in my class?” or, “What if his/her behavior disrupts the class?”

Regarding student safety, Glendale Community College has a zero tolerance level for verbal and physical abuse/violence on campus.

Standards of Student Conduct - Regardless of the type or severity of disability, all students are required to adhere to the Standards of Student Conduct. When these policies are violated, students with disabilities are subject to the same consequences as nondisabled students. A disability will not be considered as an excuse for inappropriate behavior.

Faculty members have the right to expect the same standard of behavior from students with disabilities as from other students. Please be sure they are adhering to the GCC Student Code of Conduct.

Faculty members have the right to expect the same quality of work from a student with disabilities as you do from your other students. You are not doing them a favor by accepting inferior work, by assigning "mercy" grades, or by passing a student who has not mastered the course material.
