HOW TO ENROLL - CONTINUING EDUCATION
STEP 1 APPLICATION
Complete Noncredit Student Application:
• Go to www.glendale.edu/ce or contact the Garfield Welcome Center at (818) 240-1000, ext. 5099 or 5678
• Scroll down and click on "Apply to Noncredit"
• Create an OpenGCC account and complete entire application (include your email address if you have one)
• Once application is submitted, you will receive notification of GCC student ID number with instructions
by email within 3 days. If you have not received your ID, please contact the counseling office at ext. 5035
STEP 2 ASSESSMENT/TEST
Sign up and complete an assessment, if you are:
• ESL Student
• GED, HiSET, or High School Diploma (HSD) Student
• Adult Basic Education (ABE) Student
Go to www.glendale.edu/ce for information
Note: If you are taking Office Business Technology (OBT), Parent Education, or Lifelong Learning classes,
you do not need to take an assessment
STEP 3 NEW STUDENT ORIENTATION & S.E.P.: Please call (818) 240 -1000 ext. 5035 to find out when
the next New Student Orientation will be held.

WAITING LISTS
When the class enrollment limit has been reached, the additional names are placed on a waiting list. Persons whose names
are on the waiting list are encouraged to check with the instructor to verify seat availability.
ATTENDANCE
When students register for a class, it is their responsibility to attend regularly. Classes will be discontinued if attendance becomes
irregular or small. After three consecutive absences in a class with a waiting list, students will be dropped from the class and
their names will be placed at the bottom of the waiting list. Children are not permitted to attend continuing education classes
with their parents except in certain Parent Education classes. Continuing Education classes are established for either high school
graduates or students 18 years of age or older. Students 17½ years of age must have approval from an administrator and a
division chairperson at Garfield in order to take classes. For more information call (818) 240-1000, ext. 5035.
