THE STUDENT SUCCESS COMPLETION GRANT (SSCG)—The SSCG
award provides students with additional financial aid to
help offset the total cost of community college attendance,
and encourages full time attendance and successful on-time
completion.
Tobe eligiblefor payment in thefall orwinter/spring semester,
you must meet all of the criteria detailed below in each semester
you expect payment:
1. You must receive a full-time Cal Grant B or C payment.
Students choosing to take a Leave of Absence for their Cal
Grant will not be eligible to receive payment for the SSCG.
2. To receive $649 in the fall or winter/spring semester, you
must be enrolled in 12-14.99 units per semester
3. To receive $2,000 in the fall or winter/spring semester,
you must be enrolled in 15+ units per semester
4. If you are on Financial Aid Contract, only units from the
courses listed on your contract will count toward your
eligibility
5. You must meet Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP)
Standards
6. Have unmet need
7. Awarded on funds available basis.
Summer SSCG are awarded on a funds available basis. Students
who have received the maximum SSCG amount for fall and
winter/spring ($4,000) are not eligible for summer SSCG.
Students enrolling for the summer term will be considered for
a summer SSCG payment based on their unit total for the year
(completed fall and winter/spring units plus enrolled summer
units). Students whose summer enrollment brings their annual
unit total to 24-29 will receive a summer payment amount that
brings their SSCG annual award amount to $1,298. Students
whose summer enrollment brings their annual unit total to
30+ units will receive a summer payment amount that brings
their SSCG annual award amount to$4,000.
DROPPING OR WITHDRAWING FROM CLASSES
Students who receive financial aid should be aware of
the effect of withdrawing from classes. Financial aid is not
recalculated for enrollment changes that occur after the financial FAFSA form, to download and print all other financial aid forms
aid census dates. Students who reduce their enrollment status
(withdrawfrom some but not all units) prior to the financial aid
census date may have their financial aid eligibility reduced and
may be requiredto repay funds. Studentswho drop all units and
completely withdraw fromthe college prior to completing 60%
of the semester will also be required to repay a portion of the
funds they received. Students who receive all fail (F/NP) grades
or a combination of all fail (F/NP) and withdrawal (W) grades
for the term are considered to have unofficially withdrawn and
the withdrawal date used in the return calculation of a student's
federal financial aid will be the midpoint of the semester. We
encourage you to consult with the Financial Aid Office prior
to withdrawing from classes.

SATISFACTORY ACADEMIC PROGRESS REQUIREMENTS
Students applying for financial aid are required to meet
federally required academic progress standards. Students
who do not meet the following standards will be
disqualified from financial aideligibility:
1.Grade Point Average (GPA)-Studentsmust maintain a 2.0 GPA.
2. Maximum Units-Students who do not complete a degree or
transfer programwithin 90 attempted units ora certificate
within 45 attempted units are not considered to bemaking
satisfactory academic progress and are disqualified from
financial aid.
3.Satisfactory Academic Progress-Students must successfully
complete at least 67% of units in which they enroll.
Courses in which a grade of F, W, NP, or EW is earned are
not considered to be successfully completed.
SAP Warning and Dismissal
Students’ compliance with Financial Aid Satisfactory
Academic Progress Standards is measured each term. Students
who are warned that they are in danger of not meeting one
or more of the Financial Aid Satisfactory Academic Progress
standards must meet the standard(s) by the end of the semester
in order to remain eligible for financial aid. Students not meeting
this standard after the “Warning” semester are placed on SAP
Dismissal and are no longer eligible for financial aid.
Appeal Process:
Students may appeal a financial aid disqualification if
the failure to meet the standard was due to mitigating
circumstances.Mitigating circumstancesmay include illness,a
change of major or other circumstances beyond the student’s
control and must be documented. Students are notified in
writing of the outcome of their appeal.
Please note: Appeals to Count the Higher Grade and for
Academic Renewal may impact your financial aid eligibility.
Please consult a financial aid advisor if you are pursuing one
of these appeals.
Students who are placed on Academic Dismissal by the
College are not eligible for financial aid. There is no Financial
Aid appeal process for this status.
