FINANCIAL AID
Glendale Community College participates in federal and state
student aid programs. When evaluating a student’s eligibility,
the entire annual cost of education is considered, including fees,
books, transportation and a basic amount of living expenses.
HOW TO APPLY
To apply, submit the FAFSA form by mail or on the internet
at www.fafsa.ed.gov. Other forms and documents may be
required during the review process. Provide all information as
quickly as possible to expedite your application.
Fall 2021 – Winter 2022 – Spring 2022 – Summer 2022
File the 2021-2022 FAFSA beginning October 1, 2020. File before
March 2 to be considered for the Cal Grant Program. The college’s
priority deadline is April 1, 2021.
CALIFORNIA COLLEGE PROMISE GRANT PROGRAM (formerly
known as the Board of Governors Fee Waiver)
Effective 2019-2020 award year, the BOG Fee Waiver was
renamed the California College Promise Grant (CCPG). This waiver
is available to California residents to cover enrollment fees only.
Students must demonstrate financial need by completing the
Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) or the California
College Promise Grant Application.
Effective in Fall 2016, students who are eligible for a California three types of Cal Grants:
College Promise Grant may lose their eligibility if they fail to
sustain a Cumulative GPA (CGPA) of 2.0 or higher and complete
more than 50 percent of their course work. If a student's CGPA
falls below 2.0 for two consecutive primary terms (fall or spring),
the student is placed on academic probation. If the cumulative
number of units completed is not more than 50 percent in two
consecutive primary terms, the student is placed on progress
probation.
Academic: Maintain a CGPA of 2.0 or higher
Progress: Complete more than 50% of coursework successfully
Any combination of two consecutive primary terms of academic
and/or progress probation may result in the loss of California
College Promise Grant.

Administrator degrees/certificates are not eligible for federal
student aid.
Federal Pell Grant, Federal SEOG, Federal Work Study, Federal
Loans—
GCC participates in federal grants, federal loans and federal
work study programs that are available to students enrolled in
a college degree, certificate or transfer program. These are all
“need- based” programs and eligibility is based on the FAFSA.
In addition, students must meet Satisfactory Academic Progress
standards and other federal eligibility criteria. Most students
must be enrolled at least half-time (6 units), some Pell Grant
recipients may qualify for a grant if enrolled less than half time.
CAL GRANT PROGRAM FOR FALL 2021-SPRING 2022
Eligibility is based on the student’s 2021-2022 FAFSA and
other criteria. Application deadlines are March 2, 2021 and
September 2, 2021. The college will submit GPA information
for all students who have completed 24 units or more at GCC,
of which at least 16 are degree applicable. Students who do
not meet these criteria must complete a GPA Verification form
and send it to the California Student Aid Commission. There are
Entitlement Grant: Awarded to all 2020 and 2021 high school
graduates who meet the criteria and filed the FAFSA and GPA
Verification Form by March 2.
Competitive Grant: Limited number of awards to other students
who meet the criteria and apply by March 2 or September 2.
CAL GRANT A—­ Provides a grant in the amount of tuition
and fees at UC & CSU and up to $9084 at private colleges
to students who plan to transfer and who have a GPA of at
least 3.0 and meet need and income criteria. Because eligible
students already have community college fees waived through
the CCPG program, grants are not activated until the student
transfers to a 4-year college.
CAL GRANT B—Provides a stipend of $1672 per year to students
who have a GPA of at least 2.0 and meet specific income, need
and other criteria. Students who transfer will also receive funds
for tuition and fees at UC and CSU and up to $9084 at a private
college. Excess awards may
CAL GRANT C—C—Provides awards of up to $1094 to students in
vocational programs. Eligible students will receive a supplemental
application form that must be completed and submitted to be
considered for an award. Excess awards may be available for
Cal Grant C students with dependent children.
THE STUDENT SUCCESS COMPLETION GRANT (SSCG)—The SSCG
