The ASD Experience

Dr. Temple Grandin is probably the most well-known person with autism in the United States.  Nonverbal until the age of four, she is now a professor at Colorado State University.  She has long concerned herself with the ethical treatment of livestock; thus, Temple’s humane designs for handling livestock are in over half the slaughter yards in the United States.  She has written several excellent books on autism as well as animals.  In 2010 she made Time magazine’s list of the 100 Most Influential People.

Clare Danes won an Emmy and a Golden Globe for her depiction of Temple in the HBO TV film Temple Grandin.”  Here are some scenes from that movie that give insight into the subject of autism.
