Configuration of Hearing Loss

The configuration, or shape, of the hearing loss refers to the degree or pattern across frequencies (tones), as illustrated in an audiogram. The shaded area is called the “speech banana” and is the area where the phonemes or sounds of human speech appear on an audiogram.
