Borrowing and Circulation

Checking out materials

  • Patrons may check out up to 10 items.
  • Materials are checked out for two weeks.
  • Patrons must have a valid ID (usually student card or CA driver's license) in order to check out materials.
  • Students must be registered for a current or upcoming session to have borrowing privileges.

Renewals

  • Most circulating materials may be renewed five times, provided that there is not a hold on them.
  • Renewals can be made online by logging into your account in the Library Online Catalog and selecting Patron Information.
  • Overdue items may not be renewed online.

Borrowing from other libraries

We would be glad to borrow a book for you from another library.

Fines and Fees

Fines for late materials, maximum fines and charges for late materials.

Holds

Holds can only be placed in person and on items that are already checked-out.  Holds cannot be made online. 

Faculty Holds

Faculty and staff may call in to place a hold. 

Reserves

Patrons may check out a maximum of 3 reserve items at one time. Most library reserve items are in-library use only for 2 hours. A patron must wait one hour to check the reserve item out again if the item is available. There is per hour fine, if late.

Returning materials

  • Return all materials to one of the bookdrops at the Circulation Desk.
  • Do not leave them on the counter.
  • When the library is closed, return materials to the outside book return located at the entrance of the library.
