Library Building Accessibility

The GCC Library occupies the 3rd and 4th floors of the Library Building. The Library entrance is on the 3rd floor of the building. The 1st and 2nd floors contain non-library facilities. Exterior ramps and a building elevator running between the 1st and 3rd floors provide access to the Library for individuals with disabilities. The Library elevator between the 3rd and 4th floors is available to all patrons.

Facilities and Services for Students with Disabilities

The Library provides some specialized equipment and facilities for students with disabilities. The library has an Optalek reader (enlarges print) and a Kurzweil Reader (machine reads text and converts it to audio for visually impaired people). These are located near the elevator on the 3rd floor. Students who do not know how to use the Kurzweil should ask for training in the High Tech Center (x5402).

A wheel chair accessible carrel, also located near the elevator on the 3rd floor, is for priority use by disabled students. The computer is programmed with keyboard short cuts that visually and physically disabled students may use to access library research collections.
