Retard - Dork - Loner

Until recently, these were the words that were commonly used to describe people who may have been on the autism spectrum.  I bet we can all think of at least one kid we knew growing up who had these labels; that oddball who was never socially accepted by the cool kids, never made the team, never got the girl.

Some of them grew up and never left home, or just disappeared one day.  And some of them became the Albert Einsteins and Mark Zuckerbergs of the world.
