• Although many muscular or mobility impairments can be seen, many can not.

 

  • Students with arthritis, repetitive stress injuries, Multiple Sclerosis (which often lowers the level of sensitivity in lower extremities –hand--touch) all may have mobility impairments that are not easily apparent.

 

  • These medical conditions can impact fine motor abilities and decrease endurance for longer assignments.

  • Students with upper body physical impairments may have difficulty with the following:

  • turning pages of a book or handouts,

 

  • manipulating objects; a beaker in a science class, a pen in a writing class,

 

  • slow typing or managing research materials.
