Good musicians come in many varieties. Some may blow
your socks off with their horn playing, but not be able to sing
worth beans. Others may be able to produce the most evocative
lyrics, but not be able to read a note. Good musicians fill a
normal curve of distribution, from good enough to play in the high
school band to good enough to sell out the Rose Bowl.
Even though there is great variance in good
musicians, they do share a few common characteristics.
