Let’s Look at Some Ways That Blindness Can Affect a Student’s
Ability to Learn.
1.
A student who has no sight will have difficulty accessing written
materials.
2.
Students who have had no vision from birth may also have difficulty
with understanding verbal descriptions of visuals and abstract
concepts. In an anatomy class, "Describe the difference
between a saggital plane and a frontal plane?"
3.
A student with blindness may find it difficult to participate and/or
understand if demonstrations use and rely on color coding or color differences.
4.
Graphics, drawings, paintings or other non-language materials may be
difficult to access and understand.
