Specific Accommodations for Blind and

 Low Vision Students

 

 

The Center for Students with Disabilities (CSD) can Assist with the Following:

 

  • offering information to faculty regarding appropriate and reasonable accommodations for an individual student,

 

  • counseling students regarding appropriate and reasonable accommodations,

 

 

  • providing mobility orientation for students to access the routes to classes, labs, the library and other necessary places,

 

  • providing notetakers or Real Time Captions, when appropriate,

 

  • providing screen magnification devices in classrooms (CCTV’s),

 

  • providing specific tutoring and test proctoring in the Instructional Assistance Center (IAC) or the High Tech Center (HTC),

 

 

  • offering alternate media services (e-text, books on tape, etc.)in which print materials can be scanned into electronic formats, such as Microsoft Word or Adobe PDF files. These files can then be accessed by computers, text reader software and equipment and screen enlargement software,

  • embossing some graphs, maps, tables and other visual materials  to allow students to feel the tactile images.
