When is an Accommodation not Appropriate?

An accommodation for a student is never appropriate when:

1. It makes a substantial change in an essential element of the curriculum,

2. It alters course objectives,

3. It imposes a financial or administrative burden on the institution,

4. It proposes a direct threat to the health and safety of others.

Never “dumb-down” your curriculum or teaching. This isn't a service for the student. Contact the Center for Students with Disabilities for questions and assistance on appropriate accommodations.
